Now, with her Series 6, 63, 26 and 65 registrations, she’s proud to extend her knowledge to her clients, working to simplify complex financial topics with quick, easy-to-understand explanations that can help them with their holistic plans. She also works to design those plans, tending to their each and every need including investment management, retirement planning, financial planning, insurance solutions, long-term care needs and legacy transfers.
That philosophy is what Gerri believes sets her aside, as her fiduciary duty goes beyond just financial and legal obligations. She’s morally and emotionally tied to her clients, and she cares more about them as individuals, families, heads of households and providers than she does about their individual trades. She says, “Genuine care is the only thing that can keep you afloat in this industry,” she says. “Clients seeking a financial advisor are extremely intuitive, and they can tell when an advisor is looking to make a quick sale or commission. I think it’s because there is natural hesitation to be vulnerable with your money. I solely want to see them succeed and achieve their goals, and I enjoy the journey I embark on with my clients.”
Originally from Illinois, Gerri attended Elgin Community College where she studied science. She has now lived in Wausau for more than 45 years, which is just a bit longer than she has been married to Jay, the love of her life. Together, Gerri and Jay have three children and five grandchildren with whom they spend much of their free time. “They’re the reason I do this, and they’re the reason I can connect with my clients,” Gerri says. “I know how important my family is to me, and I know what I’d do to protect them. That’s why I want to help this community do the same.”
She is also an avid reader and loves to travel, garden and explore the outdoors during the Wisconsin summertime. “I’m always looking to explore the world and share what I’ve picked up, both professionally and personally. Each day, I wake up and remember that for many of us, there comes a time when we can only think of the future. This is my future. Sharing what I’ve learned, teaching, mentoring and advocating for others is the way that I will move into the future and leave my legacy.”
